About Irène Straub
Irène is a seasoned vocal coach and performing artist with extensive experience in both classical and contemporary singing. She holds a Master of Arts in Music Education with a major in Classical Voice from the University of Applied Sciences in Lucerne and University of Arts Zürich, along with a federal diploma. Her dedication to teaching is rooted in her philosophy, “Learning through play is learning with ease,” which has shaped her engaging, student-centred approach.
Irène offers a positive, supportive approach to learning and performing that combines vocal technique with a focus on body awareness and vocal health.
Irène has been on the teaching faculty at the Ballet Academy Luzern for over a decade, with many students being selected to study at top Musical Theatre Institutions in the UK. She brings over 20 years of experience as a professional singer and performer, having performed in numerous leading musical theatre roles, including Kiss Me, Kate, Jesus Christ Superstar, Saturday Night Fever, Hair, Sister Act, Dracula, Grease, Chicago, On Your Feet, and many others. Irène is also a creative force, developing original musical productions and playing a key role in establishing Le Théâtre as a Swiss national cultural venue.
With more than 900 performances in musical theatre and over 500 additional event appearances, Irène’s experience enriches her teaching and gives students authentic insights into the world of professional performance. Her unique blend of expertise in classical voice, modern vocal techniques, and kinesiology makes her an invaluable guide for singers of all levels who wish to reach their full potential on stage.
