Ready to take your acrobatic skills to the next level? This energetic Acrobatics Workshop is designed for experienced dancers aged 12–18 who want to develop their acro dance skills and take on new and more challenging tricks.
Acrobatics has become an important element of contemporary and jazz dance, with spectacular tricks, dynamic jumps and aerial movements increasingly featured in choreography and stage performances.
The workshop focuses specifically on developing acrobatic skills, with dancers working on strength, flexibility, coordination, body control and technique while building on their existing abilities.
Led by experienced acrobatic coach and expert Ulla Tikka, the workshop combines energetic training, progressive skill development and plenty of opportunities to practise and perform. Dancers will be challenged to develop their existing skills while learning exciting new movements.
This workshop is aimed at dancers aged 11–18 who:
- Have previous experience in dance
- Want to expand their acro dance skills
- Enjoy learning challenging and dynamic tricks
- Want to develop strength, flexibility, coordination and body control
- Are ready to challenge themselves and have fun!
Working progressively according to experience and ability, dancers may explore a wide range of floor and air-based acrobatic skills, including:
- Walkovers and bridges
- Cartwheels and handstands
- Rolls and floor transitions
- Illusions
- Knee drops
- Air-based acrobatics and dynamic jumps
- Butterfly jumps
- Grand jetés and split jumps
- Aerials
- Floor flyers
- Calypsos
- Dynamic acrobatic combinations and sequences
The workshop begins with an energetic warm-up and stretch, preparing the body for the physical demands of acrobatics.
Dancers then progress through a range of skills, working on technique, strength, flexibility and control before developing more challenging tricks and combinations.
There will be plenty of time to practise, refine and perform the movements, with exercises adapted to individual experience and ability.
