Acrobatics Workshop for children aged 8-11

Roll, tumble, balance, jump and fly! This exciting Acrobatics Workshop gives children the opportunity to discover and develop a range of acrobatic skills in a dynamic, supportive and fun environment.

Acrobatics has become an important element of contemporary and jazz dance and is increasingly featured in stage performances. In this workshop, the focus is entirely on acrobatics, with children developing strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, body control and confidence.

The workshop is led by experienced acrobatic coach and expert Ulla Tikka. With energy and enthusiasm, Ulla guides the children progressively through a range of skills, giving them plenty of opportunities to practise, develop and perform the movements they have learned.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is suitable for children aged 8–11 who:

• Enjoy movement, gymnastics and trying new challenges
• Have some experience in dance,
• gymnastics or a similar movement activity
• Would like to learn and develop acrobatic skills
• Enjoy being active and trying new tricks
• Are ready to roll, tumble, jump and have fun!

Depending on their experience and individual ability, children will explore a variety of acrobatic skills, including:

• Rolls and bridges
• Cartwheels
• Walkovers
• Handstands
• Illusions
• Knee drops
• Air-based acrobatics and dynamic
• jumps
• Butterfly jumps
• Grand jetés and split jumps
• Floor-based acrobatics
• Fun acrobatic combinations and sequences

The workshop begins with an energetic warm-up and stretch to prepare the body for acrobatics. Children then work progressively through different skills, learning the foundations and developing their technique step by step.

There will be plenty of time to practise, explore and perform the acrobatic movements, with exercises adapted to each dancer’s level and ability.

A fun and active workshop where children can build confidence, learn new tricks and discover just how much they can do!
